Webchat Widget v2.2

UAT Release Date7th January 2026

This version of the SmartAgent Webchat Widget brings some big changes including Attachment Virus Scanning to increase security for agents and customers; Interactive Forms to improve data capture and an exciting change to make Auto-Translation even easier to use. We’ve also standardised our release numbers to semantic versioning, read more below.

What’s New?

Attachment Virus Scanning

We’re introducing attachment virus scanning, enabling your customers to upload files whilst reducing the risk to your organisation. This changes comes along with a new file upload component to show the status of the current upload to the customer.

  • Seamless experience - one-click upload
  • Customer and Agent attachments are scanned
  • Real-time updates including Pending, Success and Failed states
  • Virus definitions are updated automatically for each scan
  • Files with viruses detected are deleted to prevent any potential issue
  • Only successful uploads are displayed to the other party

Auto-translation | Select Language

Your customers can now select a language as part of the automated chat journey to enable auto-translation from their selected language for your English-speaking agents.

Interactive Forms

We now support interactive forms within automated journeys for webchat. This enables your organisation to collect structured data from your customers without long back-and-forth message exchanges.

Semantic Versioning

As of the v2.2.0 release, we have changed our release numbering to semantic versioning (also known as SemVer). This standardises the version numbering to the same system as the main SmartAgent app. It also helps us to communicate releases in a way that indicates the level of compatibility and the nature of updates, such as breaking changes or bug fixes. ‘Chat ended’ messageThe ‘Chat ended’ message was showing twice per chat, this will now only show once.
Download Chat TranscriptThe button to download a chat transcript was sometimes not working for customers. Where a customer had uploaded a file in the chat, the download chat transcript button would no longer work - this has now been fixed.
Star Rating ComponentThe Star Rating component was allowing customers to interact with it after it had been submitted. The new rating wasn’t being processed but was sent as a new message in the chat. The component is now fixed and can no longer be interacted with once submitted.

This release also includes several general improvements and background fixes to further enhance platform stability and performance.
